Throughout the 20 years of my life, my schooling was not my primary diverse pool. Until third grade, I was in private schools which were considered mostly white. In fourth grade, I went to school in New Hampshire which was my first public school. This was a primarily white school, as well. This continued all through high school, as well. North Kingstown High School was not very diverse. I was fortunate enough to have an extremely diverse family. My closest uncle is from Iran, my grandma is Native American, and my mom’s best friend is African American. Our family has become one big melting pot that shares each other’s cultures and customs. Also, my neighbors are from China and have just recently moved to the US. They have had a large impact on my studies the last few years.
